Me and Vitex

Postby dodgekateer » Mon May 10, 2010 10:31 am

If anyone has any info on this please let me know.
Hello. I am 36 yrs old. I have had a hormone imbalance since I was diagnosed at 14 for not having any periods. Birth control was the only thing to bring them on. I also have osteoporosis. Not too bad, but it's there. I was on clomid over a yr ago and will never go on any hormonal drugs again so u call see how relieved I was to click on a site for FertilAid. Lo and behold they had the ingrediants. The first one was Vitex. I searched endlessly for anything on Vitex and everything I found was good. 6 days ago I took my very first Vitex. A few side effects, but nothing serious. I had nausea, headache and lightheadedness. That's it. I take 3 400mg pills a day. I would like to know how soon or how long till I get my period on this? Also, what happens after 18 months on this pill and no success? Do I wean off it, take a few months off and start again? I hope someone can help with these questions. Thank u for your time. Good luck to all of you who are TTC or have already witnesses your miracle.

Vitex is one of those herbs that needs to build up in your body for awhile before you really see its effectiveness. Typically 3 full cycle months of it and you should be experiencing it's full effects. Vitex is great for helping to regulate a cycle.

If it were me and I saw no change in my cycle after 6 months, I would probably discontinue using it. But that's me.

What kind of imbalance are you experiencing?

Nice to meet you :)

Hi Dodge! Nice to meet you! I haven't tired vitex myself, but I know it's a key herb in trying to conceive. I've read that the best time to start a vitamin for fertility is right from day one of your cycle.

are you noticing any differences in your CM or body at all?

Hello, PattyD. Nice to meet u, too. Just low everything....except my thyroid is PERFECTLY normal. I was told my whole life I had Kallman's but then recently told Kallman's never develop maturly. So, wrong diagnosis. Then I was told it was the hypothalmus and the Gnrh not working correctly, then PCOS. Well, I said pretty much: "Screw off" and I'm going to TTC my husband's child on our own....God willing. What does "CM" mean? I'm new to all these terms. And btw? OPK? Thank u for your reply. I hugely appreciate everyone's help.

Hi Dodge!

Sheesh, all those diagnosis's and no one seems to be getting it right.

CM means cervical mucus
BTW means by the way
OPK means ovulation predictor kits

Who knew fertility had it's own lingo?

Hey everyone. I have some promising news. I took my very first Vitex pill on 5/6/2010 and this morning 5/25/2010 I went to the bathroom and had the textbook ovulation cervical mucus. I would like to know: does that mean my ovaries have FINALLY released a long awaited egg? That I actually OVULATED? I can't help but to be excited. I'll worry about the negative pregnancy test in 14 days, but today, is it wrong to have hope? Any advice is always welcomed. Good luck to all of you who are tying to become mom's for the first time or the 2nd or even the 3rd. :D
