UNDERSTANDING YOGA AND FERTILITY: In a brief introduction, Dr. Davis explains the physiology of fertility.
- Learn how daily anxieties and "fertility frustration" can trigger the release of stress hormones that disrupt the healthy functioning of the reproductive system.
- Relieve stress with proven relaxation techniques designed to restore mental and physical balance and actually increase conception rates (Domar, A. et al. Fertility and Sterility, 73:4, 2000).
- Build strength, increase flexibility, and learn to shift your physiology away from stress towards relaxation to promote reproductive health.
THE PRACTICE: This yoga practice is geared for students of all levels from beginning to advanced. A 60 minute dynamic flow yoga practice includes 10 minutes of guided relaxation.
ABOUT THE TEACHER: Dr. Anna Davis is a neurophysiologist (educated at Smith College and the University of Washington), a science educator and a certified yoga instructor. She was first introduced to yoga at age 15 by her mother and has practiced yoga for more than 25 years. Anna received her teacher training with master teachers Andrey Lappa and Baron Baptiste. She is grateful for her Seattle teachers (Lisa Black, Katerina Wen, Theresa Elliot), her students, and the richness yoga brings to her life. A mother of two, Anna finds joy sharing the practice of yoga with others, a path that she believes helps us to awaken and live graciously with health and vitality in the present moment.
